I am sorry to see this series end but must say the final book in the series was as captivating and well written as the first! The Soulkeepers Series has had me enthralled from the first book to the very last pages of the final book! ...And gp Ching, the wondrous author says it was written for teens! Hah! As a well educated and extremely well read, mature adult (almost 60!) I definitely believe it will, can, and should appeal to readers of all genre as well as all ages! It is, imo, a well written, complex, and thoroughly delightful series that had my emotions running the gauntlet from one end to the other. The characters were all well developed and constantly growing throughout the twists and turns of each portion of the story in its entirety, yet also within each book taken separately.This is definitely going into the "all time favorites" file! Write on gp Ching! Write on...
This would be a fun read for teens. I am an adult and really enjoyed this series, as well, as I do some other young adult fiction. The writing is well-done and the story is intriguing enough to have kept me reading late a few nights. The author has a fine sense of humor, which levens the heavy-duty story line; the dialogue seems natural and unforced. The characters are believable and nicely drawn, and the descriptions conjured up scenes in my imagination. While the subject matter borders on Christian, I don't think it would detract from the story for non-believers. At the same time, I think most kids and their parents from a Christian and Jewish faith background would find the books acceptable and intriguing.
This book, pulled at the few remaining heartstrings I had left. The Soulkeepers face, their most difficult test. Their faith is sorely tested. And they must walk head long, into the very essence of evil. The world, and all it's inhabitants, are in their hands. They are tired, broken, scared, and feeling abandoned. Yet they know, they must not falter, come what may, hand in hand they will face it. The best phrase I can think of to describe the feeling is, "they will be done". This is not to imply one side over the other. In point of fact, it describes the feeling of all and all they face. They are committed and determined. The final act of defiance, is coming. Be prepared for things to really, go to.. Well, you know..
I truly loved the Soulkeeper series. The characters represented many different types of people, yet each one became a beloved piece of this world. The references to the final apocalypse in the Bible were not lost on me. But then she took the world building to a whole other dimension, making it fresh and interesting and NOT preachy in the slightest. By not aligning herself to one religion, she made her creation accessible to all of us. It's a wonderful message of peace, love and the power of forgiveness. And the fight scenes were kick ass to boot!
I love this book and I love the series! I am so glad that the author has started a secondary series! I am a christian so the religious aspect does not bother me at all like I know it has some people. I love how events tie in with the bible and how they seem to make sense even if they are fiction. This series is well worth the read! Easy to understand and there is always something going on so you don't get bored.
I have to say that I am sorry to see this series come to an end.. I am 45 years old and thourouly enjoyed every book they aimeda young adult audience but I was swept away... Touched by the thought that their are so many people that are good and have Faith, and will continue to fight for what's honest and pure... I will miss this series and hope they somehow right about the characters and update on the characters that I fell in love for in the future.. Need more positive hopeful books in our futures!!! I've enjoyed this serious, but after the final installment of the story, I don't know I felt like stuff was still missing. I guess, I wanted more story from the characters. I feel the cast was very big and trying to cram so much into so few books, overall, hurt this series. That being said the idea behind is wonderful, and I do love these characters. I just missed more Jacob, who we really get to know in one whole book about him and his journey and then it's like BAM so many.Overall the whole series is a 4 Stars, the last book was just meh for me.
This was the last book in the series , I bought all of them because I had to know what happened next.Each book kept me looking forward to the next one.The characters were interesting& I liked the way the author ended the series.
